Background

Manufacturers need powerful wastewater treatment solutions


In the manufacturing industry, aerospace factories are among the high-tech factories that require efficient and effective wastewater treatment systems. However, due to the many complex processes involved in the manufacturing process, even top aerospace manufacturers and suppliers find it difficult to make excellent wastewater treatment decisions. Aerospace manufacturers also have the opportunity to use treated urban water and wastewater to produce higher quality products.



Challenge

Outdated systems hinder wastewater treatment for aerospace manufacturers


A large aerospace manufacturer in the Wichita region has five types of metal surface treatment production lines (anodizing, pre infiltration roughening, chemical film, passivation, etc.), which cannot provide sufficient high-quality flushing water to meet their product needs. Having high-quality water is crucial in industries involving metal electroplating and surface treatment. Many times, even urban water must be treated before use. Their existing wastewater treatment system has been around for 20 years, and after multiple repairs, it is no longer able to increase production capacity. In addition, pure water systems cannot generate enough clean water for flushing.


This aerospace manufacturer has learned through other industry companies that our company enjoys a high reputation locally. They have contacted us, stating that their goal is to increase the quality and quantity of flushing water to meet emission restrictions without sacrificing production time.




Solution

Integrating old equipment can reduce upgrade costs, and phased installation can minimize production delays to the greatest extent possible


Our company has conducted a comprehensive investigation into the water treatment situation of the factory. We sampled all production lines and observed their daily operations. We conducted free analysis on many samples and developed designs based on our experience.


Due to changes in factory ownership, the project was delayed several times, but the problem did not disappear. The significant increase in aircraft production (which is a good problem!) further exacerbated the factory's workload. Our company has proposed a phased installation plan to minimize production delays to the greatest extent possible. According to the plan, the project was successfully installed without causing any losses to production.


Our main suggestion is to re lay some of the factory's pipelines and separate the low TDS (total dissolved solids) flushing water from the high TDS flushing water. Low TDS flushing water is treated in an efficient water recovery system, while high TDS flushing water will be combined with chemical waste liquid and treated and discharged in a new conventional wastewater treatment system. In order to reduce costs, MacDermid Envio's new design incorporates a significant portion of existing equipment.
